Courses on language, culture and communication open to everyone

KK-ENG404 Themes to Explore Culture (2 cr)

To understand yourself, you have to understand culture: To understand culture, you have to understand yourself. In Themes to Explore Culture, one of two such courses we offer, we will start to unpick this conundrum through games, discussions and interactive lessons. Throughout the course, you will also gain insights through reflection on both who you are, and the influence culture has on you. You need to have completed your basic language studies to participate in the course. Although we recommend that you take this course before Tools for Understanding Culture both courses can be taken in any order or completely independently.

KK-ENG403 Tools for Understanding Culture (2 cr)

Culture can seem abstract and even random. In Tools for Understanding Culture, one of two such courses we offer, we explore ways to make sense of culture and understand it as a series of dimensions. The course will consist of project work, discussions, interactive lessons and guided reflection. You need to have completed your basic language studies to participate in the course. Although we recommend that you take Themes to Explore Culture before this course, both courses can be taken in any order or completely independently.
