Sisu instructions: Updating your study plan created prior to 1 August 2020

The instruction belongs to the following themes

By selecting a degree programme you are able to see the general content as well as the possible degree programme-specific content. You do not have to select a degree programme to see the Open University's instructions.

All study plans created in Sisu prior to 1 August 2020 must be updated by 16 May 2021 in accordance with these instructions.

Please note! If you are studying in one of the study tracks listed below, you have to draw up a new study plan in Sisu instead of updating an existing one. These instructions pertain to students whose studies began in 2020 as well.

If you began your studies before 2017 in the old degree structures, you must also draw up a completely new study plan according to these instructions: Sisu instructions for students who began their studies before 2017.

For further information on updating your plan, please see Personal study plan (PSP).

How to update your old study plan

If your study plan is made for the curriculum periods 2017-2018, 2018-2019 or 2019-2020,  the following text will appear against a red background at the top of your study plan: ‘The structure of the study plan is against the rules. Please correct your selections.’

You can now update your study plan:

  1. Click on the title of your degree programme (the title row containing the programme code). The following selection assistant will appear on the right:

  2. Scroll down on the selection assistant until you can see all parts of the study plan under ‘Selections that deviate from the curriculum'. Remove these parts by clicking on the recycle bin icons next to them.

  3. After removing the above parts, the selection assistant will show the parts you must still add to your plan. Select only the uppermost part, and all other parts will be automatically selected.

  4. The end result will look like this: you have added all compulsory parts in your plan, and the error messages are no longer shown. Now you can continue to plan your studies normally.

Exceptional instructions apply to these study tracks

If you are studying in one of the degree programmes listed below, you have to draw up a new study plan in Sisu instead of updating an existing one. These instructions pertain to students whose studies began in 2020 as well.

Your degree programme will notify you when the technical update has been completed for the programme, after which you can draw up a new study plan. Please wait for further instructions before drawing up a new plan. After you have created your new plan, remember to make it your primary study plan.

The instructions apply to students of the following degree programmes and study tracks:

  • Bachelor’s Programme in Law in Vaasa
  • Bachelor’s Programme in Philosophy: Swedish-language study track
  • Bachelor’s Programme in Languages: English, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, French, German, Russian as a foreign language, Russian as the mother tongue

In the case of these degree programmes, the modelling of study rights in Sisu is incomplete. Consequently, updating the relevant learning opportunity breaks the link between the study right and the current study plan. To restore this link, students must draw up a new study plan in Sisu.
