Where do I find my student number? Where can I browse my completed studies? On this page, you will find personal information regarding your studies. 

Some of the activities require logging in with University of Helsinki username and password. If you do not have a valid username and password, please contact open university Student services

Personal and contact details

If your name changes to another, contact: avoin-student@helsinki.fi.

You can browse and edit your contact details in the University of Helsinki’s study information system Sisu

  1. Log in to Sisu with your University of Helsinki username and password.    

  2. Select: My profile

  3. Select: Personal information

  4. Edit your contact details if necessary. Finally save your changes. 

Student number

You can find your student number from your profile in the University of Helsinki’s study information system Sisu:  

  1. Log in to Sisu with your University of Helsinki username and password.   

  2. Select: My profile

  3. Select: Personal information

Course enrolments

You can find your enrolment information from your profile in the University of Helsinki’s study information system Sisu

  1. Log in to Sisu with your University of Helsinki username and password.

Receipt of the study fee

You'll receive the receipt of your study fee with the automatic message after your enrolment. 

Study right

A study right means the right to complete a course. In the open university, a study right is granted for the duration of the studies that you have enrolled for.   

You can find information about your study right from your profile in the university’s study information system Sisu:  

  1. Log in to Sisu with your University of Helsinki username and password.  

  2. Select: My profile

  3. Select: Study rights   

University of Helsinki user account

In connection with your enrolment, you will receive a username and password for the University of Helsinki information systems. The username will not be sent to you separately, but rather you will gain access to it by activating your user account well before your studies are due to begin.

You can browse the information associated with your user account (such as its expiration date) on the User information page (fi).

The helsinki.fi email and other digital services

Your University of Helsinki user account gives you access to services such as the helsinki.fi email and Microsoft’s Office 365 services.  

You can access your email by logging in at the University of Helsinki Office365 login page with your University of Helsinki username and password. Please note that all messages relating to your studies will be sent to your helsinki.fi address as a default.

Online learning environment Moodle

Nearly all open university courses use the online learning environment Moodle.

You can log in to Moodle with your University of Helsinki username through the course page. Some courses use a course key which you need when you first log in to the course area in Moodle. Information on the opening date of Moodle and the possible need for a course key can be found on the course page.

Special arrangements

As a student at the open university, you can request special support for study-related situations and arrangements. For example, you may be granted additional time in an examination or have an assistant accompany you.  

To request special arrangements, you must submit a certificate from a doctor or equivalent specialist (e.g., psychologist, speech therapist or physical therapist) describing the need and grounds for the special arrangements.

Completed studies

Your completed studies are registered in the study register of the University of Helsinki. You can view your completed credits in the My Studyinfo service and in the University of Helsinki’s study information system Sisu

Please note that My Studyinfo service displays the status of open university students’ study rights as incomplete. Nevertheless, the course completion is final.
