A wide range of language and communication courses will begin at the Language Centre in the fourth teaching period. They cover a number of languages and skill levels and offer completion methods ranging from independent study to on-site instruction. Arabic:
Intermediate Arabic 2 (KK-ARA201, CEFR A2, 2 cr, contact teaching)

Academic and Professional Communication in English 1 & 2 (KK-ENKAIKKI, CEFR B2, 4 cr, blended teaching). Complete the English language studies in your bachelor’s degree in the fourth and fifth teaching periods:
Intermediate course:
Speaking and Vocabulary (KK-ENG302, CEFR B1, 2 cr, contact teaching). Practice and develop your speaking and vocabulary skills in English with this course! Completion of this course will help you prepare for your faculty English course.
Advanced courses:
Advanced English: Feedback on Writing (KK-ENG504, CEFR C1, 1 cr, remote teaching). Develop your writing skills by reflecting on your needs, participating in a teacher feedback session, and actively editing a current text. All text types are welcome!
Advanced English: Oral Fluency (KK-ENG406, CEFR B2, 2 cr, contact teaching). Activate your spoken English skills in a relaxed and supportive environment!
Advanced English: Presentation Skills (KK-ENG401, CEFR B2, 2 cr, blended teaching). Brush up your presentation skills!
Intercultural Communication: Tools for Understanding Cultures (KK-ENG403, CEFR B2, 2 cr, contact teaching). Learn practical ways to make sense of culture and develop intercultural communication with this course.
Spanish:
Intermediate Spanish 2 (KK-ESP203, CEFR A2, 3 cr, contact teaching). On the intensive Intermediate Spanish 2 course, you will discuss a variety of topics including health, friendship, the future, the recent history and the current situation of Chile and Cuba, as well as the traditions of Spain and South America. The grammar focuses, among other topics, on the imperative, the conditional and the future as well as the past and past perfect of the subjunctive.
Curso de Redacción – Spanish Advanced Writing (KK-ESP401, CEFR B2, 3 cr, contact teaching). Welcome to the academic writing course! Come to challenge your creativity and take your writing in Spanish to another level. The course focuses on writing with an emphasis on the clarity and argumentation of texts. The course topics are shaped by students’ interests and fields of study.

We also offer KK-RULAAK courses for psychology and speech-language pathology students in accordance with the new degree system.

Academic interaction and writing skills (Finnish):
Popularisation of Science (KK-AI011, 4 cr, remote teaching). Dear experts, scholars and students! This remote course shows you how to make science communication more accessible. You will acquire the skills and confidence to communicate effectively in interviews, podcasts and blogs as well as on social media. This course will allow you to roll up your sleeves and learn while doing.
Supporting Writing Using Creative Methods (KK-AI009, 2 cr, contact teaching). Are you looking for new ways to tune in to writing? Are your searching for your own voice, or do you want to find new ways to express yourself? Academic writing can be surprising and fun! This course explores various creative methods, discusses writing and brainstorms together. The main focus is on practical exercises and discussion.
Academic Writing in Finnish as a Second Language (KK-FIN05, CEFR B2, 2 cr, online teaching). This course is suitable for you if you were educated in Swedish or completed the Finnish as a Second Language (S2) syllabus in upper secondary education, and you have just started studying and wish to practise academic writing in Finnish.
