Exchange destinations in Europe

Genom att välja utbildningsprogram ser du förutom de allmänna anvisningarna också utbildningsprogrammets eventuella egna innehåll. För att se Öppna universitetets instruktioner behöver du inte välja utbildningsprogram.

In Europe the Faculties’ own agreements are primarily meant for studies in your own study field. Host universities may have limitations on whether you can study a discipline, which you have not previously studied.

If you wish to study subjects in another study field, you can apply for exchange via the university-wide agreements or via the agreements of that study field (via another Faculty). Please note that it is often required you have prior studies in the field in question unless you choose basic bachelor’s level courses.

The European exchanges are funded via three exchange programmes; Erasmus+, Nordplus (Nordic and Baltic countries) and SEMP (Switzerland). All destinations in Europe are funded by Erasmus+ if not otherwise mentioned.

Nordplus Network of the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry

Nordplus is a mobility program for bachelor's and master's students studying in the Nordic and Baltic countries. The programme is funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers. Please note that Nordplus opportunities are not available for PhD students.

Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry is part of the NOVA/BOVA Nordplus Network, which allows you to participate in specific subjects during your exchange.

Exchange and traineeship options

It's possible to participate in intensive courses lasting 1-3 weeks or 1-2 month short mobility taking place in one of the networks partner universities. Such exchanges have to be always individually agreed with the receiving university.

The network funds also internships of up to 2 months. These internships should be part of your degree and must take place in the Nordic or Baltic regions. For internships lasting longer than two months, we recommend to apply for the Erasmus+ traineeship grant

Nordplus grant

The mobility grant will be provided by the university coordinating the network, and the amount will be determined based on the network's budget. This means that your grant might be issued by a university other than the University of Helsinki.

The maximum grant amounts for Nordplus mobilities are listed in the Funding for the student exchange instruction. For example the NOVA/BOVA Nordplus grant amounts are 580 EUR for 1 week, 680 EUR for 2 weeks and 780 EUR for 3 weeks (+ 330 eur to Iceland). The payment will be made after the completion of the course or internship.

Application Process

To apply for the Nordplus funding, you must submit your application through the Tailor Made portal after receiving approval from your host university or internship site. Once you are accepted by the University of Helsinki for Nordplus mobility, you will receive detailed instructions from the Internationalization of Education unit on how to proceed.
