At the University of Helsinki, students plan their studies independently. There are many ways to complete studies and the most common modes of completion are described here.
In addition to registering as for the academic year, you will have to register separately for all courses which you intend to complete.
The Helsinki University Main Library is located in Kaisa House on the City Centre Campus. Kumpula, Meilahti and Viikki also have their own campus libraries.

Learning takes place not just in a variety of physical spaces, but also in digital learning environments. The University of Helsinki utilises a selection of different digital services to make your studies easier.
In a General Examination/Faculty Exam you can for instance retake course exams or do literature examinations that are not related to teaching.
You can take certain exams electronically at a time and exam room of your choice.
Digital examinations in specific venues are completed using your own device in a learning environment such as Moodle.
You can retake an approved examination or course no more than two times.
Once you have completed all studies required for a specific module, you will have to request that the completed module be registered.
During the exceptional situation, ordering a digitally verified transcript is highly recommended. If you need to send your transcript to someone, please check with the recipient whether they accept a digitally verified transcript. Paper copies are not mailed daily.
You can apply to have credits and other prior learning transferred to your degree. Please return filled form to your faculty's Student Service point in person or by email.
The university has set timelines within which your completed studies are valid for degrees or study modules.
